Joshua W Shuman, PsyD, believes in giving back to his community. He is a former volunteer at the Life Learning Center where he taught vocational and life skills to people from underprivileged communities who have experienced setbacks, such as alcohol and drug addiction or legal trouble. At the Life Learning Center, Joshua "Josh" Shuman provided lessons on basic social skills, workplace etiquette, interviewing skills, and stress-reduction strategies.
He is the former chair of the Ohio Psychologists' Association's early career psychologist committee. He holds a BA in psychology from Franklin College, and earned his MA and PsyD from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology.
Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he worked as a staff psychologist until 2014. There, he was responsible for providing his services to veterans and their families in individual, group, couple, and family sessions, and helped staff the mental health on-call emergency and crisis services. In addition to these responsibilities, he volunteered to take leadership roles in the organization supervising the student-trainee program, and he produced a practicum program from scratch.
